Neil Colango is a Vancouver-based Production Designer, Art director and Props master. Hailing from the Philippines, he got his start in dance & University theatre productions which led him to transition into film professionally in 2006 on various local tv commercials, tv shows and feature films. Neil’s education in Communications from the University of Saint La Salle - Bacolod supplemented by his thirst for knowledge in film production & theatre ensures his designs are always truthful. During his University years, he took summer intensive production & performing arts workshops under Director Maurice “Peque” Gallaga. It is in this summer workshops that he decided to pursue film as a career.
He later went on to moved to Manila to join a design company CNS The Creative Native Studio & worked for multi-awarded Filipino Production Designer Rodell Cruz as a Props Assistant. It was in Rodell Cruz's tutelage that he went on & developed into one of the industries top Art Directors in the local industry.  In 2011, he was a local hire through a full service film production company Philippine Film Studios Inc. - working on the US-Philippines co-production the BOURNE LEGACY.
In his time with international co production, he was invited by his supervisors to pursue further education overseas. n 2013, He moved to Vancouver, Canada to join his family and pursue further education. Neil's focus is Art Department but he is also adept in Camera Operation, Non-linear Editing, graphic design and performing arts. Because of his diverse background in performing and production arts he chose to join Properties Department as his main job with IATSE Local 891. In between shows he keys on Independent Projects  and continues to collaborate with filmmakers. As a designer, he makes sure that his work is always purposeful, specific & impactful. He is known for his attention to detail, resourcefulness and ability to work with all forms of media may it be on bigger tiers or independent projects.
